Angelika Taschen set out in search of the most beautiful hotels along its coasts, islands and beaches: the luxurious Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc and the ultra-chic Les Roches Rouges on the Côte d'Azur; the little-known Pardini's Hermitage on the Italian island of Giglio, reachable only by boat or on foot; and Amanruya in Bodrum, hidden in one of the sea's most spectacular coves. She also presents new hotel concepts, fine architecture and creative design: the Menorca Experimental estate in the Balearics, the modernist Villa Dubrovnik in Croatia and Dexamenes in the Peloponnese, where disused wine vats have been brought back to life.
Other discoveries include Mezzatorre on Ischia, the Torre di Cala Piccola with its private beach on the Argentario, La Locanda del Barbablù with just five rooms in the shadow of the Stromboli volcano, the Nord-Pinus in Tangier with views of the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Coco-Mat Eco Residences on Serifos.

The editor: Angelika Taschen studied Art History and German Philology in Heidelberg and earned her doctorate in 1986. She has worked at TASCHEN since 1987 and has published numerous titles on art, architecture, photography, design, travel and lifestyle.
